Three Books I Meant to Read Last Year | Blogtober | Booksmagick

With a teetering pile of books to choose from I even could pick some that go well together for a photo 😅 There’s simply too many books being released every year and as a bookseller I get to see the majority of them – but don’t have the time to read so much. Cruel.

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

My girlfriend read it last year and she has been raving about how good it is but somehow I still haven’t read it yet. And I’m actually waiting to be able to read The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy but I would have to read Gentleman’s Guide first. You see my dilemma here? 😅

It has a bisexual MC, a possibly ace side character and a lot of humour, apparently. Monty, the rebellious heir of a wealthy family is sent abroad with his best friend, and tutor to learn how to become a Gentleman.

This Monstrous Thing by Mackenzi Lee

That there are two books by Mackenzi Lee on this list was pure coincidence, I only realised now as I was writing the blog post …

This Monstrous Thing is a retelling of Frankenstein and has the most gorgeous cover! Earlier this fall I’ve read Frankissstein, a modern retelling and new interpretation and it was odd but intriguing. Funnily enough I’ve never read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley 🙈 Shame on me.

Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett

This book has been a #FairyLoot book some time ago and I still haven’t read it! 😱 I love the cover and the story sounds really good.

Raksha is the deadliest mountain in the Empire and Kamzin has been chosen to map it. Only, her sister is on the adversary’s exploration team and Kamzin must decide if she wants tp beat her to the top or help her against the cruelty of the mountain. The book is loosely inspired by the climb to Everest.

Which books have been lying forever on your TBR pile, waiting to be read?
